“FATE OF THE FURIOUS” TOPPED THE BOX OFFICE IN THE FIRST WEEK

Who knew that the eighth installment of “Fast & Furious” franchise will top the box office in the first week of its launch? Yes! It happened again. “The Fate of the Furious” made its way to the top and astonished the movie industry.

The franchise earned a total of $38.7 million over the weekend. The installment broke all the previous records and topped the list of biggest global debut of all time.

I personally believe that Paul Walker’s death is a huge loss for the franchise and the latest installment may not get as much response as the previous ones. A lot of movie critics were expecting an average opening week of the movie on the Box Office. But, the box office report on the weekends was a shocker and obviously, cheerful moment for the franchise owners, movie stars and fans.

Animated comedy film “The Boss Baby” holds the second place on the Box Office by closing the week at earnings of 12.8 million dollars. “Beauty and the Beast” a romantic fantasy takes the third place on the Box Office; earning 10 million dollars. Disney’s animal documentary “Born in China” managed to earn a total of five million dollars and placed at the fourth spot.

How can we not mention the under-rated Armenian genocide drama “The Promise” starring Christian Bale opened at only 4.8 million dollars? It was definitely fared worse. Moreover, Warner Bros. thriller “Unforgettable” managed to secure 7th place. The movie starring Rosario Dawson and Katherine Heigl earned 5.9 million dollars over the weekend.

“Fate of the Furious” closed the first week with a huge difference of 26 million dollars from its competitor “The Boss Baby.” The other franchises have really low chance of topping the box office unless they make really good business in the coming weeks and somehow the popularity of “Fate of the Furious” drastically drops down. We all know that it’s not happening!

Anyway, the franchise really deserves a hats-off to produce an entertaining movie for the fans. Also, the fans didn’t disappoint them. The box office report says it all!
